NC-Link will be unveiled at EMO Hannover 2019

European International Machine Tool Show (EMO2019), hosted by the German Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (VDW), will be held at the Exhibition Center of Hannover in Germany from during 16-21, 2019. At that time, China's own CNC machine tool interconnection protocol (NC-Link) will go abroad to be exhibited at the exhibition.

Participation in the exhibition has been organized and implemented by CMTBA (Director Unit of CNC Machine Tool Interconnection Protocol Standards Alliance). NC-Link and its application in CNC system, robot and relating fields as well as alliance member units will be displayed on site.  Alliance member units attending the exhibition are: Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co., Ltd., Huazhong University of Science and Technology, GSK CNC Equipment Co., Ltd., Beihang University, J-Tech CNC Technology Co., Ltd., Foshan Intellgent Equipment Technology Research Institute, Shenyang Machine-tool Group (Shanghai) Intelligent System Research and Design Co., Ltd., and Baoji Machine Tool Group Co., Ltd., etc..

One of the core technologies of intelligent manufacturing is CPS (Cyber-Physical System, Information Physical System). One of the key core technologies for implementing CPS is the interconnection and interoperability of numerical control equipment. In order to realize the interconnection and interoperability of numerical control equipment, standards are essential. CMTBA took the lead to form the CNC Machine Tool Interconnection Protocol Standard Alliance by organizing 15 enterprises, institutions, research institutes and universities (starting units) of CNC industry in May 2016 in Wuhan. The aim is to integrate the technical resources of the dominant enterprises and research institutions in the industry, to formulate the internationally advanced CNC machine tool interconnection communication protocol standards around the needs of intelligent manufacturing.

On May 23, 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the “Intelligent Manufacturing Integrated Standardization and New Model Application Project”, the starting  project of CNC Machine Tool Interconnection Protocol Standard Alliance “CNC Machine Tool Interconnection Communication Protocol Standard and Test Verification”, the R&D of NC-Link officially started. After three years of hard work and more than 20 revisions of standard content as well as more than 10 adjustments of technical architecture have been carried out, till now, NC-Link has been preliminary formed and verified in multiple smart factories.
